How renting works

Good to know before getting started:

  • Always rent and return your City Bike at one of currently 26 stations
  • Before renting for the first time, a payment method must be saved in your Monheim Pass account, even if you are only using your credit balance. Watch the video tutorial (in German)
  • Children can also ride! A parent must approve the payment method before the first rental. Watch the video tutorial (in German)
  • Maximum rental period: 24 hours. If the maximum rental period is exceeded, we will charge a service fee of 50 euros.
  • Return your City Bike in two steps: 1. Dock the bicycle, 2. Close the frame lock.

1. Check availability

If the LED is green, the City Bike is available. Select the bike in the Monheim Pass app or hold your Monheim Pass card up to the handlebar tag to borrow it.

2. Unlocking

The frame lock opens automatically after the signal tone. On cargo e-bikes, you need to release the parking brake on the handlebars and the docking horn.

3. Prepare for your ride

Remove the bike from the station and check it for defects and correct saddle height. On e-bikes, the motor can be switched on via the control panel on the handlebars.

4. Parking on the go

Want to stop for a moment? Park your bike in a safe place and lock the frame lock until you hear a beep. If you are riding a cargo e-bike, also engage the parking brake on the handlebars.

5. Returning the bike

Push the bike into a free dock and lock the frame lock. If none are free, you can park the bike in a safe place up to 3 metres away from the station. Check that the frame lock is locked after the beep. For cargo e-bikes, also engage the parking brake on the handlebars and secure the docking horn.
